Anywhere around the world, Filipino workers will always be hard-working and diligent with their work. Therefore, it is not a surprise that they receive multiple awards and recognition.
A Filipina nurse is set to receive the British royal award after responding at the London Bridge terror attack that happened last June 3, 2017.
The OFW nurse was identified as Joy Ongcachuy, 45-years old. She will become the Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in line with her great community work, according to The Filipino Times.
The Filipina was one of the first people who responded and treated injured victims of the deadly attack in June 2017. The incident involved a terrorist who attacked a crowd and stabbed pedestrians along the London Bridge.
All seven injured individuals survived the attack.
“It’s very overwhelming receiving that phenomenal award. It’s not an ordinary award that I received. I consider it as one of the best gifts that I have,” says Ongcachuy.
This OBE award was also given to famous personalities like David and Victoria Beckham, Keira Knightley, Liam Neeson, and Eddie Redmayne.
The Filipina nurse went to the United Kingdom to work last 2002 as a scrub nurse. She lives in Stratford, London.
It is so great to hear the news that a dedicated Overseas Filipino Worker gets recognized by her efforts and dedicated, a fresh story compared to the frequent reports of bad treatment among OFWs.
