The Department of Labor and Employment through Secretary Silvestre Bello III promised 200 women in POLO that they will be repatriated back to the Philippines in the next three months. These women had troubles with their employers in Dubai and Northern Emirates.
According to TFC, the said OFWs will be given financial aid upon their arrival in the Philippines. Secretary Bello also encouraged them to stay in the Philippines and work.
POEA Administrator Bernard Olalia also said that if these women still decide to return abroad, they should take up a course so they can work as a caregiver or welder in countries like Israel, Japan, and even China.
The women whom Secretary Bello gave his promises felt relieved upon hearing about the things that Bello said. All these women entered in Dubai using a visit visa before they encountered problems with their employers.
After visiting POLO, Sec Bello also joined the Global Migration Conference in Dubai.
“Itong global migration conferences ay para mapag-usapan kung paano maiiwasan ‘yung illegal recruitment, maiwasan ‘yung illegal migration and more importantly how it will protect our migrant workers,” said Sec. Bello.
Because of the rising cases of abuse among domestic helpers all over the world, it is important for Filipinos to note that there are other jobs that they can apply to. All they need is a training course that they can even get for free at TESDA.
