Sometimes, miscommunication leads to a troublesome situation. Especially if you are working abroad, it is very important to learn the language of your employers and know their cultures as well to avoid sending a wrong message to them.
To this Filipina domestic helper, it seems like her employer mistook her words into something else. The Filipina meant that the incident was just an accident but what she said was contrary to that – “Isn’t accident”, the Filipina said.
In a Facebook post, JanMich Navarro Basco shared a picture of a broken jar with a caption stating her story. According to Basco, her employer got really mad at her because she broke the jar. Even though she said the ‘isn’t accident’ her employer still got pissed.
Upon reading the caption, it is quite obvious why the employer got totally pissed at Basco. It’s because she said that it isn’t accident, which means that she meant to break the jar.
Netizens shared their comments stating that Basco should have used ‘it is accident’ so her employer will let the incident pass. Other netizens also felt that they just had a miscommunication and that the Filipina should apologize as well as correct the terms she used.
It is hard to work abroad especially since you need to adjust to the language, culture, and tradition of the country you are in. But, you have to do it for your family who is relying solely on you.
