A Filipina domestic helper pleaded not guilty over accusations that she put bleach on the bath of her employer’s baby. The trial took place at Shatin Court, Hong Kong.
But on Jan 29, the prosecutors provided 5 witnesses pointing out that she is to be blamed over the rashes which was found on the baby. The accused was identified as Merlyn Ando, who is facing charges over “Ill-treatment by those in charge of a child or young person”.
According to reports, the six-month-old baby of her employer acquired several injuries after the baby’s mother unknowingly gave her a bath with water that contains bleach.
The incident was totally blamed to the helper. According to Charlotte Chan, the Filipina wants to inflict pain to her baby by putting a bottle of Chlorox just beside the baby’s shower gel on the rack exclusive for baby toiletries.
Chan claims that the incident happened just a day before the Filipina helper was about to leave the flat, as she already resigned from her job.
Ando served the family since February of 2017. She was with the family for a year and a half when the incident took place.
According to Chan, she personally prepared the bath of her child. But before that happened, the Filipina cleaned the toilet using bleach resulting in a tainted bath.
Her baby acquired redness on the arm and the side of her body. She took the baby to the Prince of Wales Hospital then went to the police to file a complaint.
On August 13, police arrested Ando and were kept in custody since the prosecution denied granting bail to her.
