Hong Kong is pushing through jobs for trained caregivers that won’t require them to do unrelated housework.
According to a Philippine-based recruitment agency, they already placed about 100 Filipino caregivers in Hong Kong for this kind of jobs. This was officially announced by the agency owner Fred Palmiery.
Such jobs were carried out by the Concorde International Human Resource Corporation, the recruitment agency of Palmiery and its counterpart in Hong Kong which is Active Global Specialised Caregivers.
According to The Sun HK, the actual number of these live-in caregivers is actually a lot higher considering the fact that Filipinos were already working as caregivers when they were first hired.
Mostly, the pay of these caregivers is much higher than the minimum salary, with one reported to receive about $12,000 per month.
According to the website Active Global, the salary of live-in caregivers start at $5,000 and this could go higher considering the experience as well as the qualification of the candidate. The worker is not required to pay anything but the employer will be asked a hefty amount of cash worth $19,800 just to hire a trained caregiver coming from the Philippines.
Palmiery also confirmed that the employers of these caregivers are briefed first that these workers are not to be asked to work unrelated household tasks.
