It is really heartbreaking to know that your hard-earned money will just be taken away from you by cruel people. To this 65-year-old woman, she really took this matters to heart.
In United Arab Emirates (UAE), a woman was brought to the hospital after suffering stoke as she was so stressed out when her money was robbed at Sahara Mall in Sharjah.
According to Gulf News, just five days after the woman lost her wallet that contains Dh3,000 (PhP43,500), the poor woman identified as Estrella Belaro went ill.
Though she is advised to be discharged, her family is still looking for money to pay her hospital bill that already accumulated to Dh220,000 (PhP3,190,000).
Her husband is also looking for help. According to him, the Philippine Consulate will help shoulder the cost of their return to the Philippines but they need to settle their hospital bills first.
“I told her not to worry, we would make the money back but the stress and tension was too much for her,” says Rolando, Estrella’s husband.
The couple has been in the UAE for 11 years is from Marikina City. They are with their two daughters in UAE, ages 29 and 26.
“We’ve appealed to church groups and charities to help us,” says Rolando.
The missing money is a lot cheaper than the hospital bill which is more than 3 million pesos. Amidst the incident, OFWs are being urged to take care of themselves to avoid falling ill especially because they are working and staying in a foreign nation.
