How happy could you be if you go home to the Philippines and receive a hefty amount of cash without a sweat? These three Overseas Filipino Workers from Kuwait were so happy to experience this kind of luck.
As these domestic helpers arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, they were greeted with P50,000 amount of cash which was personally given by Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.
The three OFWs were identified as Aurora, Abelle Casino from Leyte, Annabel Mario Melencio from Surigao del Norte and Ismail Husain from Basilan. Each of them received P50,000 from the Department of Labor and Employment through their program, “Pamaskong Handog for OFWs 2018.”
It all happened at NAIA Terminal 1, Gate 7, at around four in the afternoon. Together with Overseas Workers Administration (OWWA) chief and Bello, they awarded the gifts to three lucky OFWs.
10 other OFWs also received cash gifts amounting to P10,000 and another 10 OFWs from Kuwait received Christmas basket on that same day.
The lucky three OFWs who got the chance to be gifted with P50,000 said that they are planning to use the money to put up their own business in the Philippines so they won’t have to go back abroad and work.
Husain, one of the domestic helper who received the cash gift, said that it’s been 30 years since of working as an OFW and it is her first time to receive such amount of cash.
