There are lots of benefits that the Social Security System has to offer including sickness benefit, maternity benefits, disability benefit, retirement benefit, salary loan, death benefit, and funeral benefit.
All of which will benefit not just the contributor but their beneficiaries as well. By the time that the contributor dies, the benefits will be transferred to the beneficiaries.
There are different types of beneficiaries – Primary beneficiary, secondary beneficiary, and the assigned beneficiary.
The primary beneficiary includes the legal wife, the legal children, children who are legally adopted and minor illegitimate children. The secondary beneficiary is the parents and the assigned beneficiary are those that are imprinted in the last submitted SS Form E-1 and Form E-4.
If the SSS contributor has more than one wife, the SSS will give the entire benefits to the legal wife and the legal minor children, says Department Manager III SSS Member Education Department Fernando F. Nicholas.
Nicholas also said that live-in partners are not considered as Primary Beneficiary of the contributor. In case the legal wife gets married again, the benefits from SSS will be cut off.
