Saudi Arabia is currently looking to hire 1,000 female Filipino nurses, as stated by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
Applicants must have at least two years of hospital experience to qualify in the said position. The starting salary for qualified individuals will receive a starting salary of SAR4,110 (P57,000) but it will surely increase every year.
“Habang nire-renew ‘yong kontrata mo, mayroon kang increment na something like P4,000 every year sa iyong monthly salary,” says POEA administrator Bernard Olalia.
It will only take three months for the deployment process because applicants will no longer have to undergo language training, unlike other countries that require applicants to have language training which can take months finish.
The board and lodging are also free, as well as the round-trip ticket and an annual paid leave.
It can be recalled that last year, Saudi Arabia also hired 1,000 female Filipino nurses despite the impending deployment ban of Filipino nurses in the oil-rich country.
It is also expected that the number of OFWs going to Saudi Arabia will lessen in number following the order of the Department of Labor and Employment to lessen the OFW deployment in the Middle East by 10 percent.
“Ang goal naman natin is ipababa natin ‘yong deployment ng ating HSWs (household service workers) dahil sila iyong ating vulnerable type of workers,” says Olalia. “Pero mako-compensate naman ng increase ng mga professionals, skilled saka semi-skilled workers.”
