Filipina Applying As Domestic Helper Jumps Off From The Third Floor Of A Building To Escape

A Filipina domestic helper in Dubai jumped off the building of her agency’s office who fooled her.

“Sa mama kopo, Ma, tulongan mo naman ako dito para agad ako makauwi dahil gusto kona din gumaling, hirap na hirap din po ako dito. Yung mga anak ko, gusto kona din pong makita,” said the domestic helper.

She dreamed of giving a better life for her family yet everything ended up to tragedy. According to her, she was forced to jump off the third floor of the building of her agency to escape.

According to her, she went to Dubai last December to work as a domestic helper. Someone picked her from the airport and took her to the agency. They promised her that her employer will arrive soon. But after one week, nothing happened.

“Isang linggo po ako dun, wala man lang pagkain. Niloko lang po kami,” said the complainant.

She was also not allowed to use her mobile phone to communicate with her family in the Philippines.

“Tumalonpoakosa third floor. Hindi konarinpoinisip kung mamamatayakobasta’tmakatakaslangpoakosa agency nay un,” said the OFW.

A Filipina saw her and took her to the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO). However, she still cannot return to the Philippines because her passport is still with her agency.

“Pakiusap ko naman dun sanagpaalis sa akin naibalik yung passport ko. Yun lang yung hinihiling ko, yung passport kolang po,” says the OFW.

The Labor Office is already investigating the matter.

“Kung may nangangakoposainyo ng trabaho, tiyakinniyonaito ay isanglisensyadongahensya at iyong employer ay accredited din ng POEA,” says Felicitas Bay, Labor Attache, POLO Dubai.
