There are really those employers who neglect their domestic helpers as if they are less than a person. These neglected domestic helpers are mostly foreigners who work for their families in their native countries.
Overseas Filipino Workers working as domestic helpers are not spared in this kind of treatment. Sad to say, most OFWs result in ending their own lives because of the struggles they face every day, be it with their employers or the longing they feel by being away from their families.
Facebook user April Lyn Mendoza Canilao posted a screenshot of their conversation with her sister. In the screenshot, there’s a picture of a woman who looks really pitiful.
According to Canilao, her sister is being treated badly by her employer. She is not given enough food and being confined inside the room by her employer. Her salary is also not given to her.
Sad to say, it’s as if she is giving up from the agony she is suffering and already wants to end her own life.
Paalam mahal na mahal kayo ni inay,” says the conversation.
Based on her messages, she is determined to end her life and this needs to be stopped. Her agency in the Philippines already shut down. Her only hope is to be rescued by the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
