It is sad to think that there are some Overseas Filipino Workers abroad who victimize their own kababayans just for the sake of money. This is not a new issue and there are a lot of these cases from a different part of the world, most of which involve money.
The Facebook user in the name of LynRose Suarez Canque shared a video of an OFW who can be seen crying so hard because of a debt that was not hers.
The woman in the video was identified as Rosalina Canque Cain, working as a domestic helper in Hong Kong. The reason behind her surge of emotion is the mounting debts of a certain Maria Guimao Bowes.
According to Rosalina, Maria asked her to pawn her jewelry because her mother got hospitalized. The incident happened on June 10, 2018. The pawned jewelry includes a necklace and its pendant, bracelet, ring, and earrings. She promised that in the next month, she will get the jewelry from the pawnshop.
But what happened it the other way around. Several months went on and Maria didn’t pay the money she owned and the jewelry was not returned to Rosalina. Maria was getting married on Oct to a Canadian and went home to the Philippines because she got terminated from work.
Aside from the jewelry, Maria also asked money from Rosalina worth HK$10,000. Rosalina loaned money from the bank that she is still paying up until now.
Because of the debts that were never hers in the first place, Rosalina couldn’t concentrate on her work and cries all the time.
Maria, on the other hand, is now going to Canada to be with her husband. What Rosalina is asking now is to prevent Maria from going to Canada and escaping from the financial obligations towards her.
Rosalina is asking for help from TV personality, Raffy Tulfo so she can file a case against Maria Guimao Bowes.
