Recently, news of a woman floating and without life circulated online. Finally, after more than a week, the identity of the woman was confirmed by the police authorities.

The woman was identified as Madelyn Bernardo Asuncion, as confirmed by the statement released by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in the Philippines.
According to Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Charles C. Jose, the identity of the OFW was verified by authorities and enough evidence was release. However, the autopsy report is yet to be released which will serve as the official report.
Madelyn, a native of Zamboanga City, stayed by her father in Malaysia for 10 years. Her father was the one who personally assisted the authorities in identifying the body which was found floating in the Pagalan river in Melalap, Tenom.

The Tenom police also confirmed that it was indeed Madelyn who was found in the river.
Because it is still pending post-mortem results, authorities still classify it as sudden passing away but it will be reclassified as soon as the results come out.
The floating body of Madelyn was first seen by a plantation worker around 7 in the morning of November 28. Upon the discovery, he saw one of Madelyn’s leg entangled with a water pump that belongs to a plantation company.
Photos of the victim floating in the river were circulated online and netizens were quick to identify the victim through the tattoos on her body.
