Recently, images of Filipina women wearing outfits showing almost all their skin has been circulating online. It was later found out that these Filipinas were candidates for the “Miss Hot Babes 2018”.
Most netizens were quite disappointed on the said event, stating that it reckons the image of real Overseas Filipino Workers.
To put an end to the issue, the organizer of the event that goes on with the Facebook name “MalditaMabait Si Ako” posted a public apology.
“And I also want to say sorry if u think I did something wrong in my event, to all the Filipino community I also want to say sorry. I am just human who can commit sin. Because of this incident, I learned my lesson already, and that is, to be more careful of what I’m doing and think of the consequences that will happen,” as stated on the post of the organizer.
Because of the controversy that it caused, the organizer also promised that she will never repeat the said activity.
“I promise not to do it again. I am very sorry, from the bottom of my heart,” she added.
The controversial photos first appeared online through the official photographer of the said event held on Nov. 18 at a bar in Wanchai.
In the said photos, participants can be seen wearing only vulgar clothes such as thongs, bikinis and even silicon plasters to cover their breasts. Some were also pictured posing on poles, doing several indecent acts.
In response to the complaints regarding the vulgar pictures of OFWs in Hong Kong, Labor Attaché Jalilodela Torre contacted the organizer to know her side of the story. The organizer immediately offered her apology and promised to never do any sort of event ever again.
