The Philippine Consulate advised the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) who got stranded in the previous airport misshaped that happened last August 16-18 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, to get their compensation on or before Nov. 29.
The Philippine Consulate already posted on their Facebook Page all the requirements in obtaining the said compensation, namely; photocopy of passport, immigration stamp that shows the date of departure from the Philippines, original air ticket, rebooking proof and boarding pass.
As per the Department of Foreign Affairs, it is said that the compensation will be at the amount of PhP5,000 each affected OFW passenger.
It can be recalled that there are thousands of passengers, most of which are OFWs, affected by the delayed and cancellation of flight when the Xiamen Air Jet skidded off the runway. The runway was closed for about two days.
There were already several OFWs who claimed the compensation but other already left it and did not bother getting because they only focused on getting to the first available flight.
The good thing is, even though they are out of the country, they can still claim their compensation by going to the Philippine Embassy or Consulate in the country that they are in.
Aside from the financial aid, the DFA also instructed all their overseas posts to help reach out to employers of OFWs who got affect by the airport misshape.
