Always remember, taking someone else’s money even if it’s accidentally left behind in considered stealing. Therefore you must never do it to avoid facing certain charges.
A Filipino, who worked as a restaurant manager, was charged with theft before a court in Hong Kong after getting money which was accidentally left by a Chinese national in an ATM booth.
The defendant, identified only as Mark R.B is a Hong Kong permanent resident holder. He confessed into stealing HK$500 which was left by a certain K.Y. Tsui.
The Filipino was charged with stealing before the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts.
“I plead guilty,” says Mark.
According to reports, the incident happened at the HSBC ATM on the Park Lane Hong Kong Hotel situated at Causeway Bay on Feb. 23 around 3PM to 5PM.
The Chinese national withdrew the money but forgot to take it as he leaves. He returned afterwards only to find out that the money was already gone.
As seen at the CCTV footage, Mark took the money from the ATM machine before withdrawing his own. Mark surrendered to the police later and admitted that he stole the money from the ATM machine.
Mark grew up in Hong Kong as his family migrated in 1993. Right now, Mark is married and has children of her own. According to her lawyer, Mark is remorseful and ready to pay back the money he stole.
