We’ve heard of many Filipinos abroad working hand in hand to help each other in the foreign land. But that is not always the case.
Some Filipinos abroad victimizes their own ‘kababayan’, mostly because of money matters.
A CCTV footage captures a 45-year-old domestic worker walking and carrying lots of bags in the ‘alley-alley’ area in Central, Hong Kong.
However, behind her back is a woman, wearing in pink who appears to be opening the bag of the domestic worker. The CCTV footage instantly became viral online.
It turns out that Mary Jane Santiago Olivar, the domestic helper, lost $4,000 to the thief who looks like a Filipina.
“I failed to remit. I was about to do it,” says Olivar.
The thief took the money just before Olivar can remit it to her account to the Philippines.
Later on, the wallet was found in the Central Street by another worker who recognized the owner. The wallet only had the HKID of Olivar and her ATM card. Her Octopus card and cash were slashed from her wallet.
At the moment, the thief is still at large but she is already classified as “wanted person” by the local police. Anyone who can identify the suspect can report her location to the police so she can’t victimize other people anymore
